three drum videos in which I cry, laugh and cry some more

I appreciate you aren't all drummers, but I saw these videos on youtube and had to blog them!

Check the fill out at 00:18!

'these beats go together like peas and carrits!'

I am lost for words!

Ok, lots for me to work on, I am gonna try the endurance test, I don't particularly wanna play blast beats, but the extra stamina is always nice.

long road to ruin

ok, so I dig Foo Fighters, but I have noticed that Earl Hickey has joined the band for this music video!

Check it out here.

That is all I have to say, I am feeling sick, so back to bed for me!

This is the last song that I will record on my old Hard-disk recorder, and I aim to re record it with a few changes in the next couple of weeks, in order to acquaint myself with my new setup. Enjoy and please post comments.

petehasplans: from the past to the present and some of the future

So, this was how things were, before I got it in my head to redesign my bedroom and turn it into a studio, a project that is half way to fruition. It wasn't that flash, I only had a few options recording wise, and it took a long time to see results as I was using quite a lot of below par technology (which means it is more than a year old).

There was my trusty ZOOM MRS1044, which has been used in a total of four bedroom based studios and a school, a couple of church halls (nice reverb) and my living room. I am honorably retiring it now in favor of some very nice new equipment!

The Zoom's sexy replacement is the Edirol FA101, which has more inputs (and more importantly more outputs!) and connects to my PC via a nice Firewire connection. Once connected I can actually see the wave forms of the audio and edit them in complete convenience! I am no longer restricted to a meager two inputs, I have increased it to ten! If that wasn't enough, I went one step further and purchased a 'rad' guitar/bass/vocals pre-amp/fx processor, in the form of the Line 6 Toneport UX2!

This baby is a dream come true, imagine being able to keep a cupboard with a plethora of guitar amplifiers, microphones and speaker cabs, you'd need a warehouse for the stuff this bad boy can simulate. That's not to mention the other 'stomp box' type effects available, I cannot wait til it's all set up!

I've also invested in a pair of speakers, the Behringer B2031A speakers are very nice, lovely build quality and a lot of extra set up options to fine tune them to the room they live in. I have used them tonight and they were amazing. The downside is that they weigh 10kg (33lbs) and require individual power per speaker (they are about 150w each!) It's safe to say I won't be playing anything flat out in my little room, but if I did, it would be a glorious way to become permanently deaf!

I haven't finished the studio yet, I have still to dampen the sound in here to avoid bass slapback and echo, 80 egg cartons are on order and I have a gun full of no more nails ready to whap them on the walls pronto.

When it's done I shall make an MTV cribs like video tour!

'Tonto sminky pinky bang bang mit gologolo line 6 protone UX2 bono estente CHANNEL NINE!'

Take care.
